The benefit of booking your appointment with Norfolk Ear and Foot clinic is the Tympa device, the device is able to record video take photos of the auditory canal. The patient is able to view video before and after their treatment. Sarah is able to refer to the TympaHealth team of audiologists, ENT consultants for review on a case to case basis. Video/Photos can also be sent to your GP Surgery for review.
During your appointment Sarah will be able to assess your ears, and if wax is present, gently remove it with microsuction. Microsuction is the gold standard of wax removal and is much safer than other methods such as irrigation. Once wax has been removed you will advised whether you require further treatment.
There will be times when a patient maybe required to attend a 2nd appointment.
This will be discussed in your initial appointment.
Microsuction is a safe, gentle and effective technique for children as well as adults. 5 days prior to your appointment you will be required to apply drops 3 times a day. Softening the wax before the session will make it more comfortable, if the wax is impacted from using cotton buds, placing implements down the auditory canal in an attempt to remove wax yourself, applying the drops will aid wax removal more efficiently.
I recommend Earol olive oil Drops which can be purchased from any good pharmacy. I do NOT recommend Otex
